In April 2013, the business start-up visa program was set up as pilot project and become a permanent program in 2018.
With the start-up visa program, the Canadian government seeks to attract young applicants with high level of education and advanced English or French level. As per an evaluation report of the start-up visa program, most of the applicants are
- Aged of 25 to 44 years old (77%),
- Have a graduate degree (74%);
- Have an innovative ideas related to software development (74%).
